Craggy stone floors, warm solid wood furniture, crackling log fires in winter, fabulous walled gardens to lounge in for summer alfresco dining. The service is everything you would expect…friendly and very knowledgeable. Celebrating their 200th year, Thwaites’ line-up of cask ales, ciders and guest beers is seriously impressive. The extensive list of fine wines has been chosen by Northcote Manor’s Craig Bancroft. And as for the food…you’re in for a treat. The menu at this English Country Pub Restaurant is inspired by Nigel Haworth, Chef Patron of Northcote Manor. It’s a magnificent tribute to the traditional specialities of the area…but with a delightfully contemporary twist.

So it's not difficult to understand why Nigel Haworth insists on sourcing ingredients – wherever possible – from our home grown band of artisan suppliers …the local food heroes who provide us with the pick of the crop. The leanest cuts and the catch of the day. They're proud of what they produce and we’re proud of them too. That's why many of their photographs line the walls of The Highwayman. It's our way of celebrating their dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge, and showing how delighted we are to champion their amazing skills. But the real proof of the pudding, as they say, is in the eating.
